Sampson... This handsome heartbreaker is something of a mystery to us… We think he’s quite old, possibly 1920’s, but we have no idea who made him!  Sampson is a very chunky, 23” tall, fully jointed, and filled with woodwool.  He has had an expert patch repair to his left arm, and if his felt pawpads are replacements, they have been equally expertly done.  He has 5 claws to each foot, and 4 webbed claws on each hand-paw.  Sampson has kept about 60% of his lovely, blonde mohair; though there are a couple of small patches where the mohair backing has worn quite thin.  Despite this, he is a very solid bear in overall good condition.  His back-painted glass eyes and facial stitching appear original, and his face is framed with the most remarkable ears!  Sampson is nautically dressed in a white sailor suit with sailor cap (complete with vintage Merit badge – for seamanship?) and a vintage wool coat.  A wonderful companion for any bear-lover!
